Operation Crocodile Smile: One Bishop arrested along with his accomplices for armed robbery, kidnapping and cultism

 

– A bishop and at least 18 other suspects have been arrested by troops of the Nigerian army in Akwa Ibom state, for various grievous criminal offences

– The men were arrested as part of the army’s ongoing Operation Crocodile Smile 2 campaign in the southsouth and southwest regions- The bishop is said to have been the financier of the criminals who have now been handed over to the relevant security agencies for prosecution

As part of the Nigerian army’s ongoing Operation Crocodile Smile 2 campaign in the southsouth and southwest regions, at least 18 individuals and a bishop have been arrested in Akwa Ibom state for armed robberies, kidnapping and cult activities, Punch reports.

The development was made public by Colonel Aminu Iliyasu, deputy director, army public relations.

We gathers that Iliyasu disclosed that the suspects were apprehended by troops of the army’s 2 Brigade, and that they had been handed over to relevant security agencies.The suspects were apprehended for allegedly terrorizing various areas in Etim Ekpo local government area, Akwa Ibom state.Some of the suspects were identified as Bishop Uwah Mfon, Saviour Friday, Nsika Udoh, Akan Monday, Abak Obong and Oyobong Frank.The army chief stated:“The bishop is believed to be the financier of wanted criminals. He wasarrested in Ikot Ibekwe community.

“The suspect is volunteering information about gangs of kidnappers and cult members linked to him.“All the suspects and recovered items have been handed over to relevant security agencies for possible prosecution while the operation continues.”
