Diego Simeone and Zinedine Zidane saw their side execute a tactical masterclass as Atletico and Real played a goalless draw in the first Madrid derby of the season. Cristiano Ronaldo was twice denied in the final ten minutes as Lucas Hernandez made great sliding tackles to deny the Portuguese.
Kevin Gameiro also had an effort cleared off the line by Raphael Varane as Atletico piled on the pressure in the final 15 minutes. Real and Atletico remain third and fourth respectively on the table on 24 points, ten behind Barcelona.
